Stephen Pitjara Petyarre was born c1974, in Utopia region, east of Alice Springs, Northern Territory.

He is the son of the late Gloria Ngale, a highly respected Elder and artist. Stephen is also the nephew of the late Emily Kame Kngwarreye, one of Australia’s best known artists. His Region is Alhalkere and his Language Group is Anmatyerre.

His is Anna Price Pitjara”s brother a very talented and renowned artist . Was Anna that inspired Stephen to take up painting as a young man. Stephen style of paintings include Emu Dreaming, Sky Dreaming and Spirit Man.

He is married to Bernadine Johnston Kemarre who is also an artist Stephen’s work is becoming very popular in galleries around Australia.
